Hey there, I’m Dr Schulman, and welcome back to Back to Fitness, where we keep your spine aligned and your body moving at its best.

Today, we’re diving into how to stay active and injury-free during the summer months, because they’re finally here

Whether you’re heading to the beach, joining a rec sports league, or chasing your kids around the backyard, summer brings a whole new set of activities — and with it, a higher risk of strains, sprains, and unexpected aches.

So let’s talk about how to enjoy all that summer has to offer — without ending up sidelined.

First off, hydration. I know — you’ve heard it a million times. But when it’s hot out and you’re moving more, your muscles and joints are under extra stress. Staying well-hydrated helps keep tissues flexible and reduces the risk of cramps and muscle fatigue.

Next, don’t skip the warm-up. If you’re jumping into a pickup basketball game or heading out for a hike, take five to ten minutes to stretch and move your body first. Focus on dynamic stretches — things like leg swings, arm circles, light jogging — to wake up those muscles and get your joints ready for action.

And here’s one a lot of people forget: watch your posture during summer yardwork or DIY projects. Mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, lifting heavy bags of mulch — it all adds up. Use proper lifting techniques: bend at the knees, not your back, and avoid twisting while carrying weight.

Now, if you do find yourself feeling stiff or sore after a long day outside, chiropractic care can help reset your alignment and speed up recovery. At Chiropractic Fitness here in Charlotte, we work with active individuals all summer long to help them stay mobile, reduce inflammation, and avoid more serious injuries.

We use adjustments, soft tissue work, and corrective exercises tailored to your specific activity level. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or just trying to keep up with your kids, keeping your spine in alignment makes a big difference in how you move — and how you feel.

And don’t forget — chiropractic care isn’t just reactive, it’s proactive. Even if you’re not in pain, regular adjustments can help you stay balanced, improve performance, and reduce the risk of those nagging overuse injuries that tend to pop up after a summer of activity.

So if you’re looking to stay in the game, enjoy your vacation, or just move better this season, we’d love to help.
