Hey there, and welcome back. This is Doctor Craig Schulman from Chiropractic Fitness here in Charlotte, and today I want to talk about something that’s really close to my heart — how much chiropractic care has evolved over the years.
You know, I still meet people who think chiropractic is just about cracking backs. Or worse, they’ve got this image from an old movie where someone’s getting twisted into a pretzel. And I get it. There’s a lot of outdated information floating around out there. So let’s set the record straight.
Here’s the thing. Chiropractic has come a long way. We’re talking evidence-based care now. Modern chiropractors are trained in anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, and even nutrition. We’re part of the healthcare team, working alongside physical therapists, medical doctors, and other specialists to get you feeling your best.
When I first started practicing, a lot of people were skeptical. But now? Major hospitals and sports teams have chiropractors on staff. Insurance companies cover our care. And research continues to back up what we’ve known all along — that addressing spinal health and nervous system function can make a real difference in how you feel every single day.
So what does modern chiropractic actually look like? Well, it starts with a thorough examination. We’re looking at your posture, your movement patterns, where you’re holding tension. We might take X-rays if needed. And then we create a personalized care plan just for you. It’s not one-size-fits-all anymore.
The adjustments themselves have evolved too. We’ve got low-force techniques, instrument-assisted adjustments, and specialized tables that make the whole experience gentler and more comfortable. If you’re nervous about that popping sound, we’ve got options that work just as well without it.
But here’s what really excites me. Today’s chiropractic is about so much more than pain relief. Don’t get me wrong — we’re great at helping with back pain, neck pain, and headaches. But we’re also focused on keeping you healthy long-term. Better movement, better posture, better function. That’s the goal.
Now, let me tell you what you can do today. Start paying attention to how you move through your day. Are you hunched over a computer for hours? Sleeping in a weird position? Carrying tension in your shoulders? Just noticing these patterns is the first step. And simple things like stretching, staying hydrated, and taking breaks to move around can make a bigger difference than you’d think.
Of course, if you’re dealing with pain that’s not going away, or if you just want to optimize how your body’s functioning, that’s where we come in. A chiropractic evaluation can identify issues before they become major problems. Think of it like getting your car aligned — a little maintenance now saves you from bigger headaches down the road.
So here’s my invitation to you. If you’ve been curious about chiropractic, or if you tried it years ago and had a bad experience, give us another look. The profession has grown up. We’re here to listen, to educate, and to help you feel your absolute best.
Thanks so much for listening today. If you’re in the Charlotte area and you want to learn more, swing by Chiropractic Fitness or give us a call. We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you’ve got. Take care of yourself, and I’ll catch you on the next episode.
